Cost Comparison

If you are considering the purchase of a new color printer for your business, you should take a few minutes and research the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

There are many factors to consider which can result in a higher than expected TCO. Many mid-range color printers have a Cost Per Page (CPP) of $0.10 to $0.14 a page based on 20% coverage. CPP will vary depending on how much ink is being applied to the paper. When printing color, most users put more than the base 20% coverage on the page. As an example, the HP Color LaserJet CP4005 DN cost $0.13 per page for supplies only - this does not include the cost of purchasing or maintaining the printer. If you double the ink coverage on the page, the CPP will also double from $0.13 to $0.26 a page! When you amortize the cost of an HP CP4005DN with warranty over 3-years, include supplies at 40% coverage and print 2,000 pages a month, each sheet from the HP CP4005DN is over $0.26 a page! Compare that to the fixed cost of $0.12 a page for the FREE COLOR PRINTER and you just saved $0.14 a page or $10,080 over 3-years! And, there is no up front cost - the printer is FREE!
